Beginners Courses

We run up to two Beginners Courses a year which are designed to teach the basic skills of archery in a friendly and enjoyable way.

You don’t have to be sporty or athletic because “Archery is the sport for all”.

The course will be run over two consecutive weeks in two, four-hour sessions. All the equipment you need will be provided for you.

There will also be talks on different bow types, how to purchase your own equipment, and information about our club and Archery GB membership if you decide to continue.

These courses are mandatory for anyone wishing to join an archery club. All courses are run in accordance with the Archery GB requirements and guidelines and are run by a qualified Archery GB coach assisted by some of our most experienced club members.

At the end of the course you will have been taught to shoot a recurve bow with reasonable skill, confidence and the essential safety. On completion you will be presented with a certificate that can be used to join any Archery GB registered club. Of course, we'd love it if you chose us.

Juniors.

Unfortunately we do have a minimum age of 12 for our course participants and all under 18s must be supervised at all times by a parent or guardian (who can also take the course if desired).

We always welcome returning archers who can provide proof of Archery GB membership.

You will be asked to undertake a short assessment with one of our coaches.

At the end of the session the coach will, if necessary, agree a ‘work plan’ with you, detailing what they consider necessary to bring you up to the required standard for a full shooting member.
